Kapuso actor Paolo Contis has drawn positive reactions after sharing a photo with John Cabahug, the husband of his former partner Lian Paz, highlighting their improved relationship and evolving co-parenting arrangement.

On his Facebook page, Paolo reshared an Instagram post originally uploaded by John, featuring the two of them posing behind a large shopping cart at a membership shopping store in Cebu.

Paolo added the caption: “Next level Co-Parenting.”

The photo gained attention amid renewed online discussions about parental responsibilities following Patrick Garcia’s recent interview with Ogie Diaz concerning his past relationship with Jennylyn Mercado and their son, Alex Jazz.

Separately, an old photograph featuring former ‘Tabing Ilog’ stars Paolo, Patrick and John Lloyd Cruz had circulated online. The uploader used the image to suggest that Paolo and Patrick should learn from John Lloyd when it comes to providing financial support for their children.

The comparison followed Ellen Adarna’s recent public acknowledgment of John Lloyd’s generosity toward their son, Elias Modesto.

Some of Paolo’s supporters interpreted his Facebook post with John Cabahug as a possible response to attempts to involve him in the Patrick-Jennylyn controversy. However, Paolo did not explicitly mention the issue or indicate that his caption was directed at the circulating comparison.

Paolo and Lian share two daughters, Xalene and Xonia. Although their separation was previously marked by public disagreements, recent developments suggest that they have gradually established a more harmonious family arrangement.

In January 2026, Paolo shared photographs from his holiday celebrations with his family in Manila and Cebu, including time spent with Lian, John and their children.

“A very well spent holiday… kasama ang aking pamilya sa Manila at sa Cebu! mahal ko kayong lahat!” he wrote at the time.

Their reconciliation had also become evident in August 2025, when Paolo publicly thanked John and Lian for giving him an opportunity to reconnect with his daughters.

In a birthday greeting for John, the actor expressed his appreciation for the couple’s willingness to facilitate the reunion.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing Lian and my kids nung araw na to. Oo, hinintay ko talaga ang birthday mo to publicly express my gratitude to you.”

He also acknowledged Lian’s kindness and efforts in helping make the meeting possible.

“@liankatrina, you have always been kind and forgiving. This is why hindi kayo pinabayaan ni Lord. I appreciate all your efforts in talking to John about that day. Thank you for being strong and for how you nurtured the kids to have beautiful hearts.”

Addressing John directly, Paolo promised to maintain communication and make the most of the opportunity to rebuild his relationship with his children.

“John, I cannot thank you enough for this chance. I promise to have a constant communication sa inyong lahat. I will not waste this chance. Thank you for taking care of the kids. Please know that I am always here para sa inyong lahat.”

Lian responded in the comments section by sharing Romans 8:28, a Bible verse about things working together for good for those who love God.

The family’s improved relationship marks a notable development from 2023, when Lian publicly mentioned that their daughters had expressed a desire to remove the surname Contis from their names.
