Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio rejected the idea of running for Senator. However, she endorsed two female officials who she thinks can serve the public properly. In an article from People’s Television, Mayor Sara also stated she couldn’t leave her children alone.
“Hindi ko kaya iwanan ang mga anak ko. ‘Yun din ‘yung reason kung bakit hindi ako tatakbong senador. Kasi hindi ko, sorry, hindi talaga.”
Mayor Sara continued to endorse Usec. Mocha Uson and Senator Pia Cayetano.
“Pero meron akong i-endorse sa inyo, nandiyan si Usec. Mocha Uson at nandyan si Senator Pia Cayetano, sila ang ilagay nating mga Senator.”
In a recent tweet, Mocha expressed her gratitude to the Mayor’s kind words, however, she declined her endorsement and would rather focus on the job she has now. Mocha stated that she would want to help President Rodrigo Duterte and the Filipino people first.
“Una sa lahat ako po ay taos pusong nagpapasalamat kay Mayor Sara Duterte sa tiwalang ibinigay niya po sa akin. Ngunit sa ngayon po ay trabaho po muna tayo. Wala pa po sa isip natin yang mga ganyang bagay. Tulong po muna tayo sa ating Pangulo at sa ating mga kababayan.”
