The Passage of Life is based on a true story about the fate of a Burmese family seeking refugee status in Tokyo. With two sons who cannot speak Burmese and live like Japanese children, the parents are at odds with returning to Myanmar. Until one day, the family of four receives a letter that changes the rest of their lives.

This full-length film debut by Fujimoto received tremendous recognition at the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival as the Best Asian Future Film and also awarded as The Spirit of Asia by the Japan Foundation Asia Center.

The 2018 Sinag Maynila Film Festival is made possible by McDonald’s, in partnership with FDCP and CineLokal. Special thanks to our official venue partners SM and SM Cinema.
