Kakai Bautista recently starred in a movie with Ahron Villena, Harry & Patty. The movie served as Kakai and Ahron’s first movie as leads. Kakai denied that the movie suffered a truncated theatrical run (in showbiz parlance, “first day-last day”).
Kakai refutes “wrong” impression.
Bautista shared that during the movie’s run, she went to Mall of Asia (MoA) and found out that people had watched Harry & Patty on its first and second day.
This made her realize that the movie didn’t suffer the “first day-last day” fate.
“Ay hindi, hindi totoo yung first day, last day. Sa totoo lang, sabi nila wala na pero napanood pa nila. Kasi yung app sa internet, hindi kami minsan lumalabas. Kaya akala siguro ng iba wala na, pero nandoon pa. Katulad nung isang beses sa MOA, wala na raw pero nakapanood pa sila ng dalawang araw. Kaya hindi ako naniniwala sa first day, last day. Hindi siya nagtagal, pero hindi siya first day-last day.”
Happy with feedback.
Kakai continued that she got a lot of positive feedback from those who watched Harry & Patty, considering that their showing coincided with the buzz surrounding the then-forthcoming Cinemalaya and Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP).
“Araw-araw kaming nakakatanggap ng mga feedback. I think, it’s because konti lang ang sinehan namin and it was not really push na malala. Kasi at that time, everybody was busy with Cinemalaya, everybody was busy with PPP.”
“May kurot ako, but I’m happy with the result. Technically yung result, I mean, it’s not blockbuster, pero not all movies na hindi pinanood ng mga tao ay may feedback na maganda. Kami, isa’t-kalahating linggo kami. Everybody loves it.”
“For me, sapat na yun sa akin. At kahit kay Ahron sinabi ko, ‘Aminin mo naman, hindi naman yung movie lang natin ang nakaranas ng ganun. And sa clickthecity, five star kami. Wala halos bumababa ng four, five. At yung mga reviews, nine out of ten, eight out of ten.”
