ABS-CBN and Color Vision has set a deal to air “The Promise” in Dominican Republic; marking the first Filipino drama to air in the Central American country.
“The Promise,” a story about never-ending love across social boundaries and about overcoming life obstacles, is a primetime soap opera that was produced by ABS-CBN. This drama has reached all over Asia for its mass appeal that brought the network ratings soar high throughout it’s production.
In 2015, the Filipino series had its remake and debuted on May 25, starred by Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Jodi Sta. Maria, Ian Veneracion, and Angelica Panganiban. The remake had 190 episodes and was produced by Star Creatives.
The original series, which was produced by ABS-CBN in 2001, that starred Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa, was so popular in the Philippines that it was remade in 2015 for a new generation of audiences. The remake starred Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.
Wincess Lee, sales head for Latin America and Asia, said “We are very happy that Dominican Republic’s Color Vision chose our bestselling drama La Promesa or The Promise as the first introduction to content from our side of the world. This is a huge testament on how our content can indeed transcend boundaries.”
“Latin America continues to be an important growth area for us. Since ABS-CBN has tapped into LatAm, we have also licensed our dramas in Mexico, Colombia, and Peru, and in addition, some 13 films have already been sold to the region. We’re looking at different ways to expand there,” she added.
“The Promise” started airing in the Dominican Republic in March via Color Visión Canal 9.
