SevenFriday, more than a wristwatch with an appealing look

A newcomer timepiece label positions itself to take the watch industry by storm with its striking design and a name that is sure to pique one’s curiosity.

Daniel Niederer, flew in all the way from Switzerland to attend the Manila launch of Zurich-based watch brand, SevenFriday. They have a goal to shake up the industry so used to run-off-the-mill ideas for quite some time, he worked for about two and a half years to conceptualize an iconic design that will set his watches apart from the rest.

Sevenfriday identified top personalities who embody the Sevenfriday brand – Ornussa Cadness, Jeron Teng, Chef Laudico, Laureen Uy, Anton Del Rosario, Rhian Ramos and Senator Chiz Escudero.

The said type of watch that you don’t just put in your drawer. SevenFriday watch that is a cross between a sports watch and a jewelry watch.

Daniel also mentioned that, as the name suggests, SevenFriday embodies and expresses a lifestyle that is always Friday all days of the week. To create the unique Sevenfriday watch design, Niederer partnered with the Studio Divine team located in Biel, Switzerland.

Using the industrial elements—steel, industrial plants, engines, machines, and wheels—they created a watch that made people take a second and closer look.

With 15 years of experience working in some of the biggest watch brands to boot, Niederer worked closely with the design team making sure they create a timepiece of the highest quality standards but still quite affordable. With a closer look at the retro TV-shaped watch, one can truly appreciate the elegant visual complexity of its multi-faceted dial, admire the handiwork that defines its finishing, and relish its innovative design that is a good combination of classic and modern. While on the wrist, its heft and form give off a tactile experience of wearing a watch that not only looks but also feels luxurious.

The wristwatches of SevenFriday are built on two major elements: the box and the interface. The box, made of stainless steel, refers to the complex construction of the protective casing. It is surrounded by an animation ring made of aluminum, enhancing its haptic and visual appeal.

The interface, on the other hand, consists of hands, discs, dial, and the watch movement. All the indicators are designed and arranged in a way to bring the complexity of the movement to the surface. In fact, the dial alone is made up of five separate pieces or layers, with eleven different applications.

Currently, the SevenFriday watches collection plays within its distinct complex design but uses a variety of materials, finishing and colors to set the timepieces apart.

If we are to look on their records, the striking design of the Sevenfriday watches proved to be a selling and wow factor even to non-watch collectors as for this year alone, the brand sold about 12,000 watches worldwide. An impressive feat for a label that only started selling on September of last year.

The Flash Party hosted by Phoemela Barranda was star-studded with guests coming from different industries.  Spotted on the Black Market floor are showbiz personalities Aubrey Miles and Troy Montero.

Sevenfriday is now available in over 30 countries since its launch, but it is here in the Philippines where the first Sevenfriday boutique store in the world will soon open.
