Cristine Reyes finally mellows out; reflects on past ‘mataray’ behavior

A different Cristine Reyes appeared to the media last January 30, 2020 at the presscon of her latest movie Untrue with Xian Lim, which will be making its premiere on February 19, 2020.

Aside from her red hair, Reyes was noticeably more friendly and approachable unlike before where she would escape or walk away from interviewers. Sometimes, the actress would just say “No comment”, if not, give an off-topic answer.

The sexy actress has been involved in some major tarayans in the past. The most controversial was in 2016 where she was accused of being rude by veteran actress Vivian Velez, who was her co-star in the drama series, Tubig at Langis. Because of this issue, the netizens slammed the actress and criticized her for her nasty attitude. Not long after, the actress apologized to Velez who had already quit the show.

The actress was fond of walking out on the press to avoid personal questions. During the premiere night of her movie The Gifted in 2014, AA (her nickname) walked out when she was asked about her rumored pregnancy. In 2018, the “Walk out Queen” was asked about her relationship with Ali Khatibi. The actress refused to answer the question and walked out of the interview.

During the presscon, the actress revealed that her sudden change of attitude is because of maturity since she’s not getting any younger.

She said, “Siguro over time… magti-thirty-one na ako. Nung mga time na nakilala niyo ako na feisty and all, I was 14, 15, teenager.

“You can’t really blame me for those days na hindi ko ma-control ang emotions ko,” the 31-year old actress added.

Reyes shared that she’s trying to fix herself as she learned that it is best to choose which battle to fight for.

“So over time, natututo ka rin to fix yourself, na hindi naman lahat ng bagay ay kailangang lalabanan mo.

“Basta ang kailangan is to try to become a good person when it comes to myself, to other people, to work. I’m really trying,” said the actress who plays Mara in Untrue.

Cristine shared that as time goes by, she’s trying to open up more.

“Siguro don pumapasok yung naiintindihan mo na yung pinasok mong trabaho. Kasi nung nagsisimula ako, honestly, totoo na wala akong pakialam noon.

“Kapag may nagtatanong, ‘Ayoko ngang sagutin yan!’ ‘Di ko nga gustong sagutin yan.’ ‘Bakit sino ka ba para magtanong?’ Gano’n ako, eh… dati.

“Pero ngayon, mas malawak na ang pagkakaintindi ko sa pinasok kong trabaho, at kasama yun. Ngayon, mas masasabi ko na mas nakakaharap na ako nang maayos,” she continued.

Looking back as to how she was before, Reyes vowed that she will be in control, and no longer walks out if she doesn’t feel like answering a thing or two.

“Hindi na ako padalus-dalos, hindi na ako nagwu-walk out. Ngayon, mas appreciative na ako na nandito na ulit ako. Mas na-appreciate ko kung ano meron ako, di katulad nang dati,” she said.

Directed by Sigfrid Andrea Bernardo, Untrue is scheduled to release on February 19, 2020 in cinemas nationwide. The film is a collaboration project of Viva Films and Idea First Company.

The film is described as a psychological thriller as it tackles violence and vengeance. It is about two Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) working in the town of Tbilisi, Georgia whose unexpected meeting leads to a fleeting romance and marriage, and later, violence. Both characters of Lim and Reyes are mentally challenging. This He-She method of telling a story will surely mess with your mind as you try to figure out who is telling the truth.
