The multi-awarded advocacy show of ABS-CBN Foundation, “G Diaries,” comes back to the screen with fresh new episodes beginning May 16 (Sunday), 9:10 am on Kapamilya Channel.
Newly-wed Ernie and Michelle Lopez will tell stories of hope and transformation of individuals and communities from all over the Philippines for the 8th season of “G Diaries – Change the World Together.”
From its first airing on December 8, 2017, “G Diaries” has featured over a hundred advocacy-related episodes on sustainable ecotourism, community development, and environment protection from as far as Tublay, Benguet in the north to Bongao, Tawi-Tawi in the south.
Former Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary and environmentalist Gina Lopez produced “G Diaries” as her platform to bring together the government and business sectors, NGOs, the academe, and the youth to support advocacies that help uplift the lives of Filipinos.
Her younger brother, Ernie Lopez, took on hosting duties after Gina passed on last August 2019.
Despite the denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the quarantine lockdowns, “G Diaries” continued to air on the digital platforms of ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation.
At the height of the lockdown, Michelle Lopez (then Michelle Arville), with the help of Ernie’s son, Nathan Lopez, had been helping Ernie shoot multiple episodes of “G Diaries” from home. The two had teamed up as Ernie’s camera operators.
Confident with her immersion and familiarity with the program, the “G Diaries” production invited Michelle Lopez in October 2020 to co-host the show’s 8th season.
“We want to use our relationship to bless others. I am very happy that I get to share this experience with my wife,” Ernie shares.
“G Diaries” will feature advocacy-oriented stories on the environment, children’s rights and development, arts and culture, humanitarian assistance, health and wellness, livelihood and education, in partnership with the Lopez Group of Companies and with the support of the Energy Development Corporation.
