On Christmas Day (December 25), Kapuso actress Max Collins tries to free herself from the spell of a love potion in Gayuma—the last installment of “Pasko ng Pag-asa: The Wish Ko Lang Christmas Specials.”
Joining Max in this latest episode of Wish are Jak Roberto, Dave Bornea, Tanya Gomez, Bench Hipolito, and Bernicular.
Max portrays Regina, a woman who lives by the river whose beauty attracts a lot of men–including her childhood friend, Adan (Dave).
“Isa siyang simpleng babae at mai-in love sa kanya ang kanyang kababata, si Dave, at gagamit siya ng gayuma para mapunta sa kanya si Regina,” Max says about her role.
Adan is not that handsome, in fact, people make fun of his looks. Regina tries to turn him down nicely at first, but when Adan gets obsessed with her to the point that he stalks Regina, she has no choice but to push him away.
Everyone is shocked when one day, Regina seems to have fallen head over heels with Adan and that they are about to get married. How can this be? Regina’s mother and her friend soon discover that Adan used a love potion on Regina. They try rescuing her but Adan is quicker and takes Regina with him to Manila.
Eventually, the love potion’s power expires. Regina meets Stephen (Jak), the person whom she truly loves. But Adan is not taking this sitting down. He locks her up for himself, beating Regina every time she tries to get away.
Will Regina have a happy Christmas with her true love Stephen?
“Kailangan ninyong abangan kung ano ang gagawin ni Regina to save herself,” says Max of the story.
She adds that she is happy to be part of Wish Ko Lang’s Christmas Specials, which consists of all-female leads including Barbie Forteza, Kim Domingo, and Jean Garcia.
For Gayuma, Max says she made sure that she was able to internalize her character by doing research about gayuma or love potion and adjusting herself to her surroundings.
“Napakaganda ng episode na ‘to kasi para siyang indie film. Maraming intense scenes, so excited na po ako na mapanood ninyo.”
Asked what lesson she learned from her “Wish Ko Lang,” episode, Max said, “Ang tunay na pag-ibig ay hindi pinipilit. We all know na kapag pinipilit mo ang isang bagay or feeling, hindi maganda ang kinalabasan.”
