There are two major TV ratings providers in the country which release daily, weekly and monthly TV ratings – Household, People, Audience Shares – Mega Manila, Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao or Nationwide – they are AGB Nielsen and Kantar Media (formerly known as TNS).
AGB-Nielsen Media Research Philippines, popularly called AGB Nielsen, is a market research firm in the Philippines specializing in broadcast media. AGB Nielsen Media Research (Philippines) is the subsidiary of AGB Nielsen Media Research, a joint venture formed by the AGB Group & the TAM business of The Nielsen Company in March 2005.
Meanwhile, Kantar Media started releasing its Philippine television audience measurement data in February 2009. Kantar Media launched Rural Television Audience Measurement Service on June 2012 with a total of 6.315 million homes in rural areas across the Philippines (North Luzon, Central Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao) was added to the existing 8.820 million homes in urban areas, bringing the total TV universe to 15.135 million homes nationwide. Kantar Media’s audience panel would now cover and represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.
Every month, these TV ratings providers say ABS-CBN leads nationwide from Kantar Media and GMA leads nationwide from AGB Nielsen. Well, both of them have its own basis. Their scientific measurements which says who’s leading.
