“Boyfriend” showcases a different dimension of the pop singer, one that is dually rooted in self-love and transparency. In company with the strong production presence of Evan Blair, Dove shares of a moment in which she is face-to-face with a potential love interest. The track transports the listener into her shoes as she expresses her longing for this individual and conveys her ability to treat them better than their current significant other. The new song, which quickly gained popularity on the short-form video platform TikTok, has already become a favorite amongst Dove’s fans.
