On February 21, Viva artist Josef Elizalde maintained his stance that he doesn’t mind doing support roles even after doing lead roles.

At the media conference for Lawa, Elizalde reasoned that he considers his showbiz career his livelihood.

“Ako naman, I don’t mind doing both. I think, nasagot ko din ito before noong tinanong sa akin sa press, bakit pa rin ako tumatanggap ng mga support after doing lead roles. Well, for me naman kasi talaga, work is work. No matter how small the role is, work pa rin ‘yun, blessings pa rin ‘yun, and kahit gaano kaliit ‘yung role mo sa isang pelikula, you can still learn a lot from that particular role.”

He then cited the infinite learning he gets from his acting career through meeting co-actors, directors, and creatives.

“So ang acting kasi, it’s an infinite ano eh, infinite learning ‘yan. You think you know it all pero hindi pa rin talaga. Napakalalim, napakalawak ng mundo pag-aacting, so ayun I’m just really happy and blessed na nae-expose ako sa mga ibang mga artista because at the same time marami ka rin natutunan sa kanila. Same goes, sa mga directors.”

As for working with Philip Giordano, he described the director as a ‘cool’ and ‘collaborative’ person.

“Honestly, parang wala naman akong na-encounter na challenge for my character.

“He’s a very cool guy, cool director– he’s actually one of the very few directors na very open to suggestions na since–he’s only– since he can only understand English, like he would like ask my take, ‘What do you think of this scene? Blah, Blah. What do you think we should do?’

“It’s [very] rare to see a director asking their actors what they think of the scene, what they think [is going to] happen here. And anything we want to add, so ayun– he’s really open to suggestion.”

As for the Vivamax film, Lawa stars Cara Gonzales, Sean de Guzman, Jela Cuenca, Elizalde, Ivan Padilla, Millen Gal, Julia Victoria, Sheila Snow, Massimo Scofield, Thor Gomez, Ardy Raymundo, and Yuki Sakamoto.

Lawa, directed by Philip Giordano, streams on Vivamax starting March 3.
