Sun Life of Canada (Philippines) Inc., a leading life insurance and asset management company, has unveiled its sustainability agenda in line with the Philippines’ celebration of independence.

With a history of 128 years in serving Filipinos, Sun Life has consistently prioritized sustainability, both within its Philippine office and as part of its global organization.

“Serving Filipinos for 128 years now, Sun Life has always prioritized sustainability—not just in its Philippine office but also in the global organization where it belongs to,” Sun Life Philippines CEO and Country Head Benedict Sison said.

Sun Life’s sustainability initiatives are centered around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on areas where the company can have a positive social and environmental impact.

Throughout the years, Sun Life has been a strong advocate for these causes, supporting them through various initiatives.

Sison emphasized that Sun Life is dedicated to creating a sustainable future and making a positive impact on stakeholders through its operations. The company aspires to empower Filipinos to achieve financial security and healthier living for future generations.

In line with its commitment to increasing financial security among Filipinos, Sun Life has once again designated June as Financial Independence Month. The objective is to empower Filipinos through relevant and engaging content that conveys the message, “Freedom starts with a choice. Kaya mo ‘yan!”

Carla Gonzalez-Chong, Sun Life’s Chief Client Experience and Marketing Officer, expressed the company’s aim to sustain the conversation around financial independence, building on the initiative introduced in 2015.

“Our rallying cry for this year shows our confidence in the Filipinos’ power to bring their goals to life. And as they make the choice to pursue financial freedom, Sun Life will be here to walk the journey with them, with the vision of helping Filipinos achieve lifetime financial security,” shared Carla Gonzalez-Chong.

As part of Financial Independence Month, Sun Life has released four short films created by its in-house team of young creatives.

These films showcase heartwarming stories of Filipinos achieving lifetime financial security.

Each film tells a unique tale, including a daughter reconnecting with her Overseas Filipino mother, a child on the autism spectrum bringing hope to his business-owner father, a son finding his path in his father’s humble barber shop, and a humorous take on finding a bright partner amid a string of bad luck.

These inspiring films can be viewed at www.sunlife.co/kayamoyan. In addition to the films, Sun Life offers free learning modules designed to help individuals build their financial portfolio.

Sun Life remains committed to being the Filipinos’ partner in achieving a more sustainable future. The company acknowledges the progress made thus far and looks forward to reaching more milestones in the journey towards enabling more people to live brighter lives.

To stay updated with Sun Life’s initiatives, individuals can follow the company’s social media platforms, including @SunLifePH on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
