For six and a half decades, the UP Economics Society has stood by its pillars of service, excellence, and tradition. In celebration of its 65th anniversary, the society is launching “Project Shooting Star,” a charitable initiative designed to support farmers in Krus na Ligas, UP Diliman. These dedicated farmers belong to the Nagkakaisang Magsasaka ng Krus na Ligas para Sa Agrikulturang Lungsod, carrying the legacy of generations on ancestral lands.
A land dispute has diminished the available farmland, posing significant challenges for these farmers. With only six active members remaining, many have sought alternative employment due to the shrinking land area. Outdated farming techniques persist as resources and tools are scarce.
Project Shooting Star seeks financial donations to address the farmers’ essential needs, including the purchase of new farming equipment and repairs for their existing tools.
