Social media was abuzz on January 19 following reports that Toni Fowler, a prominent content creator and actress, had her arrest ordered by Pasay Regional Trial Court-Branch 108.

According to gathered information from Super Radyo DZBB and GMA News Online, the case originated from a complaint filed by the Kapisanan ng Social Media Broadcasters ng Pilipinas (KSMBP) against Fowler in September 2023. The complaint, submitted to the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office, was related to her controversial music videos.

In an interview with KSMBP’s legal counsel, Atty. Mark Tolentino emphasized that “freedom of expression” has its limitations. He explained that freedom of the press or expression is not absolute and is subject to constraints, such as those outlined in Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code, which addresses obscene and indecent publications.

In the case of Toni Fowler, Atty. Tolentino stated that she exhibited explicit content in her videos, including the display of sex organs.

On Friday, the court issued a warrant of arrest for Fowler, citing an alleged violation of Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code, in connection with Section 6 of Republic Act 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

According to GMA News Online, Toni Fowler promptly posted bail amounting to Php 120,000 on the same day. Fowler, known for her substantial social media presence, boasts millions of followers on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, where she operates under the channel name “MOMMY TONI FOWLER,” amassing an impressive subscriber count of 8 million and a lifetime view count exceeding 1.2 billion at the time of writing.
