Vice Ganda advocates for expressing affection while loved ones are alive

Unkabogable star Vice Ganda recently shared insights regarding the expression of love and appreciation during a wake, prompting a reflection on the significance of conveying sentiments to loved ones while they are still alive.

During a segment of ‘It’s Showtime,’ Vice Ganda opened up about the practice of delivering eulogies, questioning its efficacy as it addresses individuals who can no longer hear the heartfelt messages meant for them.

“Sinasabi ko nga kay Anne, e. Parang gusto kong magpa-eulogy. Sabi niya, ‘Bakit ang morbid mo?’” Ganda shared during the ‘EXpecially For You’ segment of ‘It’s Showtime’ last Friday, March 8.

Reflecting on his own experiences, Vice Ganda expressed a desire to give eulogies while his loved ones are still living, a sentiment that elicited varied reactions, including surprise, from his friend Anne Curtis.

Kasi pag ginagawa natin yun, there are so much love left unspoken, di ba? Ang daming pagmamahal na hindi nasasabi. Tapos, sasabihin na lang pag kailan patay? Bakit hindi natin sasabihin pag birthday, di ba? Pangkaraniwang okasyon.

“There are so much love left unspoken” awww vicey ko HUHUHU although I get it naman but still BIG NOOOO!! Di ko kakayanin yun pls😭#FriDateKoShowtime#ViceGanda | Vice Ganda pic.twitter.com/2mDqUwzgeY

Drawing from his recent experience offering condolences to the family of the late actress Jaclyn Jose, Vice Ganda challenged the conventional notion of reserving expressions of admiration and affection for funerals. Instead, he advocated for seizing opportunities during birthdays and other celebratory occasions to communicate love and appreciation.

Rather than waiting for somber moments, Vice Ganda proposed celebrating life and sharing heartfelt sentiments over casual gatherings, emphasizing the importance of verbalizing love and appreciation while there’s still time.

In addition to his heartfelt message, Vice Ganda injected humor into the conversation, taking a playful jab at the media’s tendency to laud virtues posthumously while engaging in gossip and negativity during an individual’s lifetime.

Pero kapag namatay ka, ano iyan, the legend in Philippine showbiz, an icon, one of the best. Sus! Let’s talk about love, speak about love, speak of love, speak for love, speak with love, speak to love, at kung ano mang preposition yan basta may love, di ba?”
