This week, one Kapuso drama series and two Kapamilya programs debuted on television. How did they fare in TV ratings?

On Monday, July 1, GMA Network’s newest primetime drama series “Widow’s War” premiered, taking the timeslot vacated by “My Guardian Alien.” Meanwhile, ABS-CBN debuted season 2 of the highly successful coming-of-age series “Zoomers” and the return of the popular kiddie gag show “Goin’ Bulilit.”

According to the latest ratings report from the Nielsen NUTAM People survey, “Widow’s War” easily won the ratings battle against its rival “Pamilya Sagrado.” “Widow’s War” registered a pilot rating of 8.9 percent, taking the number 5 spot on the overall ratings board. “Pamilya Sagrado,” on the other hand, scored 6.7 percent, 2.2 percent lower than its Kapuso competitor.

However, although “Widow’s War” won its timeslot, its rating was noticeably lower than its predecessor, “My Guardian Alien,” which concluded its run with a finale rating of 10.7 percent. It was also significantly lower than “My Guardian Alien’s” pilot rating of 11.1 percent on April 1, 2024.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s late-night teen series “Zoomers” returned for its second season with a rating of 2.0 percent, 1.2 percent lower than the Kapuso timeslot competitor “Saksi,” which scored 3.2 percent. The “Zoomers” season 2 premiere was also 0.7 percent lower than its season 1 finale rating of 2.7 percent.

The highly popular kiddie gag show “Goin’ Bulilit” also made a TV comeback, scoring 1.4 percent on its pilot episode. “Goin’ Bulilit” now features a new generation of Kapamilya child stars, headlined by “It’s Showtime” kids Kulot, Argus, Jaze, Imogen, Kelsey, Enicka, and Brieses, with Baby Giant replacing the role of Dagul.
