‘ASAP’ threatens ‘All-Out Sunday’s’ rating leadership anew

The country’s longest-running Sunday variety show, ASAP, is proving its staying power as it inches closer to dethroning its Kapuso rival, All-Out Sundays (AOS).

According to the latest Nielsen NUTAM People survey, the Kapamilya Sunday variety show has recorded its narrowest ratings margin against AOS since the ABS-CBN shutdown.

On Sunday, December 15, ASAP posted a rating of 3.2%, just 0.1% shy of AOS’s 3.3%. This marks the closest battle between the two programs following a similarly tight competition in November.

On November 24, ASAP scored 2.9%, trailing AOS by 0.5%, with the latter securing a rating of 3.4%.

However, November also highlighted a significant milestone for ASAP, as it logged its first victory over AOS in a long time. On November 3, ASAP not only reclaimed the ratings lead but also achieved its largest margin against its rival. The show registered a 4.0% rating, outperforming AOS, which garnered 3.2%, by 0.8%.

This period marked a shift for ASAP, which began airing live episodes with a live audience, reminiscent of its pre-shutdown format. This return to a more engaging setup seemingly resonated with viewers, attracting more Kapamilya fans compared to its earlier taped episodes without a live audience.

As ASAP approaches its 30th year on television, the question remains: can it sustain this renewed momentum and reclaim its position as the leader in Sunday noontime programming? Or will AOS continue to hold onto its crown in the ratings game?
