Tech Jungle: realme C75, rugged and reliable on a budget

Durability meets affordability with the realme C75, a smartphone designed to handle life’s unpredictable moments.

While it doesn’t boast 5G or cutting-edge AI features, this phone’s IP66/IP68/IP69 certification and reinforced architecture make it a compelling choice for users prioritizing toughness without breaking the bank.

Exceptional ruggedness with IP69 certification

Here’s how the realme C75 holds up across various features:

Design and Build. The C75 has a familiar look with a flat frame and a camera module that echoes older realme models. While the aesthetics might not wow users, the build quality certainly will.

What stands out most is the ArmorShell Glass paired with an internal airbag frame for shock absorption. This design earned the phone a MIL-STD-810H rating and the highest IP69 certification, meaning it can withstand dust, high-pressure water jets, and even brief submersion in fresh water up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

In testing, the phone survived multiple drops and a brief immersion in hot water, demonstrating the durability realme promised.

Display. The 6.72-inch FHD+ LCD provides a crisp, vibrant viewing experience with a 90Hz refresh rate. While it performs well under most conditions, the 580 nits peak brightness may struggle under direct sunlight. Despite this, the display feels premium for a budget phone.

Oddly, YouTube allows streaming at 4K resolution, but we advise against it due to performance issues with the Helio G92 processor. Stick to 1440p for smoother playback.

Performance. Powered by the MediaTek Helio G92, the C75 offers 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. This setup handles day-to-day tasks like social media, web browsing, and light gaming, but stutters when multitasking or running intensive apps.

The performance is a letdown considering other budget phones offer Helio G99 or Snapdragon 6-series chips, which provide better efficiency and responsiveness. If you’re looking for smooth performance, especially for gaming or content creation, you might need to look elsewhere.

Software Experience. The phone runs realme UI 5.0, based on Android 14, with two promised OS updates and three years of security patches. The interface is clean, though it lacks some premium features like AI Studio. The AI Smart Loop feature is a standout, enabling drag-and-drop functionality for quick actions like sharing content or starting navigation.

Camera. The realme C75 features a 50MP main rear camera, alongside a secondary sensor whose purpose remains unclear.

In bright conditions, the main camera captures decent photos with good detail and color accuracy. However, low-light shots suffer from noise and a loss of detail. The 2x digital zoom is usable in well-lit environments, but beyond that, the image quality declines rapidly.

The 8MP front camera is serviceable for selfies and video calls but struggles in low-light settings. Video recording is limited to 1080p at 30fps, with no stabilization, making it less ideal for vlogging or high-action shots.

Long-lasting 6000mAh battery with 45W fast charging

Battery and Charging. A 6000mAh battery powers the C75, offering up to two days of regular use. When it’s time to recharge, the 45W SuperVOOC fast charging delivers a 50% charge in 40 minutes and a full charge in around an hour. This is a significant advantage over budget competitors still offering 18W charging.

The phone also supports reverse wired charging, allowing you to juice up smaller gadgets like earbuds.

Audio and Connectivity. The C75 features a single bottom-firing speaker. While sound quality is decent at lower volumes, distortion becomes noticeable beyond 60% volume. Unfortunately, the phone is limited to 4G connectivity, which may disappoint users expecting a future-proof network experience.

Decent 50MP main camera for casual photography

Durability and Practical Use. What truly sets the C75 apart is its rugged design. Its IP69 certification, shock-resistant frame, and SonicWave Water Ejection feature make it an ideal companion for users with an active or accident-prone lifestyle. If you frequently find yourself in harsh environments or just want peace of mind, this phone delivers where others in its price range fall short.

LionhearTV‘s verdict. The realme C75 isn’t the most powerful budget phone on the market, but it excels in durability and battery life. It’s a great choice for users who prioritize reliability and toughness over raw performance.

The realme C75 is available at ₱8,999 (128GB) and ₱10,999 (256GB), with pre-order bonuses like free accessories through Shopee, Lazada, and realme stores nationwide. For those seeking a tough, affordable smartphone, the C75 delivers solid value.
