Karen Davila: ‘It’s high time to shame corrupt politicians’

Veteran broadcast journalist Karen Davila has joined the public clamor against corruption, saying it is time to shame government officials who steal from public funds.

On X (formerly Twitter), Davila wrote: “KURAKOT SHAMING. It’s high time. Sa ibang bansa, ang nagnanakaw sa gobyerno nakukulong o naghaharakiri. Sa Pilipinas, kina-iinggitan. Tama na.”

Her post came as outrage continues to swell over the alleged anomalous flood control projects under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), where billions of pesos were supposedly lost to corruption.

The issue has also drawn intense backlash after the children of some politicians and contractors flaunted their lavish lifestyles on social media—flying abroad, showcasing luxury cars, and even vlogging about their comforts—prompting netizens to dub them “nepo babies.”

In recent weeks, President Bongbong ordered lifestyle checks on all government officials, beginning with the DPWH, as part of the widening probe into the projects. Malacañang also launched the sumbongsapangulo.ph website, which has since received over 9,000 complaints from citizens on questionable flood control works.
