Kapuso comedienne and TV host Pokwang did not mince words after reposting a viral video of a foreign priest condemning corruption in the Philippines.

In the video shared on her Instagram account, the priest can be heard preaching about how deeply rooted corruption has become in the country: “The system in the Philippines is very corrupt. The government is sucking the blood of the poor just to make wealth,” the priest said during his homily.

Alongside the clip, a caption read: “‘Di ba kayo nahiya nyan? Pati pari sa ibang bansa pinupuna kayo.”

Clearly enraged, Pokwang blasted corrupt officials in her own caption: “NAKAKAHIYA NA KAYO MGA KURAKOT!!! TAPOS ANG KARAMIHAN PA SA INYO MGA MAKA-DIYOS KUNO TNG IN!!!!”

Her fiery post quickly went viral, drawing strong reactions from netizens who echoed her frustration.

Some comments read: “Mayaman ang Pilipinas, nakaupo tayo sa pot of gold pero ang daming hikahos dahil sa mga buwaya.” “They live in their own bubble. Wala silang naririnig from the masa, kaya tuloy pa rin ang kurakot.” “Paano kasi ‘yung anak ng nag-imbento ng corruption sa Pilipinas, binoto nila.”

Others even expressed disillusionment with the system, with one user writing: “Wala nang pag-asa ang Pinas. Mas maigi pa kung masakop na lang tayo ng Japan para magka-systema.”

Pokwang has long been known for her candor on social issues, particularly politics and governance. This is not the first time the actress used her platform to call out injustice and corruption — something her supporters often commend her for.

As the viral homily continues to circulate, many online praised Pokwang for speaking out, saying she once again proved that “tunay siyang may puso para sa bayan.”
