Vice Ganda admits she isn’t always “nice,” but insists she is never unkind

Television host and comedian Vice Ganda opened up about her often-misunderstood personality, saying she understands why some people find her intimidating—but stressed that fairness and kindness have always guided her actions.

In a recent interview on the vlog of broadcast journalist Karen Davila, Vice addressed how she is frequently judged based on her strong presence.

“I’m scary, not because I’m scary. I’m scary because they find me scary. Kung natatakot ka sa akin, hindi ko kasalanan ‘yon ha, ikaw ang nakaramdam noon, ‘di ba?” she said.

She explained that some people naturally project an intimidating aura even without saying or doing anything.

“May mga tao talagang ‘yung aura ay intimidating even without doing anything,’ yung hindi ka pa gumagalaw, intimidating ka na. Mayroon akong ganoong aura kasi may ini-exude daw akong ‘yung ganoon, hindi ko na kasalanan ‘yon, ‘di ba,” Vice added.

Despite this perception, the longtime ‘It’s Showtime’ host emphasized that she draws a clear line between being “not nice” and being unkind.

“I can be intimidating but I’m never unfair. I am loving, I am caring. I may not always be nice, I’m not always nice but I’m not unkind,” she said.

Vice also shared how she reflects on her actions before going to sleep.

“Bago ako matulog kapag nagdasal ako. Iniisip ko, ‘Am I unkind today?’ Tapos sinasabi ko, ‘No. You were just un-nice earlier.’ Okay na ‘yon,” she explained.

She continued, “I cannot promise to be nice all the time but I promise to be kind every day of my life. I will never be unkind. I will never be unjust and unfair to people.”

Addressing how she deals with people who treat her poorly, Vice was blunt and unapologetic.

“Lagi ako sa fair, kung ggo ka, ggo rin ako. Kung mabait ka, ay mabait din ako. Hindi ako manggag*go ng mabait sa akin,” she said.

Vice is currently preparing for the release of her upcoming film ‘Call Me Mother’, directed by Jun Robles Lana, which opens in cinemas on December 25 as part of the Metro Manila Film Festival.
