Kapuso actor Derrick Monasterio has opened up about the depth of his relationship with fellow Sparkle star Elle Villanueva, saying their bond has only grown stronger and more mature over time.
In a recent interview, Derrick did not hold back when asked about the status of their relationship.
“Hindi kami magbe-break niyan kahit ano mangyari. ‘Pag nag-break kami niyan, ewan ko na lang, guguho na ‘yung mundo ko,” he said.
According to the actor, their relationship has evolved significantly as the years passed.
“As time passes by, ‘yung relationship namin parang nagiging more mature. Mas marami na kaming natatanggap na mga bagay na hindi namin matanggap dati sa isa’t isa,” he shared.
Derrick admitted that he had to make several adjustments and that being with Elle changed his perspective on love and commitment.
“Kasi dati, nu’ng bagets-bagets ako, nu’ng bata ako, akala ko ang relasyon is just for companionship, puro fun, puro whatever. Pero ngayon, mas may utak na ako, naisip ko na it’s a teamwork talaga. Mas masarap na gano’n. Alam mong meron kang kasama.”
He added that finding the right partner is rare — and once found, should not be taken for granted.
“Hirap naman din talaga humanap ng perfect partner for you. So, ‘pag nakuha mo na yun, ‘yun na ‘yun. Wag mo na pakawalan.”
The couple will once again share the screen in the upcoming Kapuso series ‘Apoy sa Dugo’, alongside Ashley Ortega. Prior to this, they worked together in ‘Return to Paradise’ and ‘Makiling’.
Derrick also revealed how working with Elle has positively affected his craft as an actor.
“Gamay na gamay na talaga namin isa’t isa. Kaya nga mga lagi kong sinasabi, masaya ako na laging siya ‘yung kasama ko. Kasi, sa totoo lang, mas naging vulnerable ako ‘pag nakikita ko siya. Hindi ko alam bakit. Parang mas madaling umarte ‘pag siya ‘yung kaharap.”
“Siguro kasi may mga nababasa akong mga something sa mata niya tapos ‘yung nag-translate. So, lahat ng breakthrough performances ko masasabi kong kasama ko siya lagi,” he added.
