Mavy Legaspi has issued an apology following heavy criticism over his hosting stint in ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0’.

The actor-host became a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter) after clips of his on-air moments circulated online, with some netizens describing his delivery as “trying hard” and awkward. Others questioned his ad-libs and pacing during the live online sessions.
In a statement posted on his Instagram Stories, Mavy clarified that technical difficulties contributed to the perceived lapses.
“To my PBB Online-Verse family, thank you and congrats to us! We experienced the worst microphone delay and could literally hear our voices echo in the venue which made it difficult to talk,” he wrote.
“I would like to apologize if I sounded slow at times during our online live session on YouTube & Facebook — We did our best even if it was really difficult because of the sound delay. Thank you for being patient with us!”
According to Mavy, the echo and delay made it challenging to deliver lines smoothly in real time.
Despite the clarification, reactions remained divided.
Some netizens dismissed the explanation, arguing that other hosts did not appear affected by the alleged delay.
“Walang problema sa mic… di man lang marunong mag-adlib,” one user commented.
“It’s you, Mavy. Stop blaming an inanimate object,” another wrote.
Others, however, came to his defense, saying that live hosting can be unpredictable and stressful, especially when technical glitches occur.
“Sige nga, kayo pumalit kay Mavy, tingnan natin kung kayanin niyo,” one supporter posted.
“Pinag-stretch kasi, dahil sobrang delay ng show,” another suggested.
Live television and online streaming often leave little room for error, with hosts required to adjust instantly to technical challenges. Audio delays, in particular, can disrupt timing and affect delivery — especially during interactive segments.
While criticism outnumbered supportive comments in online discussions, Mavy’s public apology signaled acknowledgment of viewers’ concerns.
