Still no plans for the long weekend? You’ve come to the right place. Whether you’re staying in or exploring what the city has to offer, here’s a helpful guide to maximize the next 72-hour break from school or work.

If you’re planning to stay in…

Three words: Netflix and chill (literally). Since it’s now the third long weekend of the month, you might have been to your go-to list of weekend getaways and would prefer to relax at home. Discover newly uploaded movies and shows such as Death Note or Marvel’s The Defenders. (Read: Enjoy Netflix through PayMaya) Or since Season 7 just ended, why not rewatch Game of Thrones?

A movie or tv series marathon won’t be complete without some snacks. Have a feast delivered at your doorstep via foodpanda. (Read: How to order at foodpanda using your PayMaya) They offer a wide variety of cuisines that can cater to your every craving, anytime and anywhere.

If you’re planning to go out…

Here’s a handy list of events around the metro to fuel your need for arts or entertainment. Take your pick among a theater play, a crafts workshop, a photography talk, or an indie music gig. Transpo would no longer be an issue since Uber is back! (Read: The Wait is Uber! Plus 10 Tips To Ease Your Daily Commute)

1. A Game Of Trolls at The PETA Theater Center

The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) stages a martial law musical for millennials in “A Game of Trolls,” which will run for the whole month of September. PETA hopes that this play inspires viewers to look beyond memes and online propaganda on social media, and encourage them to do their own research, to think critically, and to act with responsibility. Tickets for the shows on September 2 and 3 are available on TicketWorld and the PETA website.

2. Linya-Linya Night at Saguijo

Linya-Linya & Raccoon Productions present “Linya-Linya Night at Saguijo”! The lineup includes Cheats, Autotelic, Ang Bandang Shirley, The Ransom Collective, & She’s Only Sixteen. Plus, if you wear a Linya-Linya shirt, you can get in for free!

3. International Silent Film Festival Manila 2017 at The Shang

The 11th International Silent Film Festival is a showcase of silent films, classic and contemporary, from 9 different countries, happening at the Shangri-La Plaza from August 31 to September 3. Admission to all screenings is free on a first-come-first-served basis. More details here: International Silent Film Festival Manila.

4. People Photography Talk & Exhibit at the National Museum

On September 2 at 2 pm, French photographer Pierre de Vallombreuse will give a talk on the intricacies of photographing people whom he has known and become attached to. As a result, he has learned to photograph with them the narratives and vignettes of their lives. Entrance for the event is free but it would best to reserve a slot by calling (02) 5271232. More details: You are invited to this free event: People Photography.

5. Craft MNL Weekend Workshops

Basic Copperplate Calligraphy | September 2, 9AM – 12NN | ₱2,000.00

Dive into a formal approach on calligraphy and learn the discipline of proper letterforms. The workshop is inclusive of materials and will also delve into the proper materials to invest in and other cost-efficient ways to study and practice.

Calligraphy Flourishing | September 2, 2PM – 5PM | ₱1,800.00

The Basic Flourishing class with Sienne Lim adds an extra ‘oomph’ to pointed pen calligraphy with loops, swirls, and decorative details. The workshop is also inclusive of materials.

Itajime Shibori Dyeing | September 3, 2PM – 5PM | ₱2,300.00

Level-up your tie dyeing skills in an introduction to the Japanese art of Itajime Shibori Dyeing. Learn the steps from preparing the fabric, mixing the dye bath, and folding variations. Each participant will have 4 yards of fabric to work on during the class, which can make 2 custom-made scarves.
