Rosanna Roces opened up about a painful chapter of her childhood, revealing that she was still a baby when she was given to another family allegedly in exchange for ₱4,500.

The actress shared the story during a candid conversation with Charo Cordial of Maddox Jewelry, where what began as a lighthearted visit eventually turned into a discussion about her family and personal life.

Rosanna said she was already 15 years old when she discovered the circumstances surrounding her childhood after coming across a document bearing the name of her biological mother.

“₱4,500 ako binenta,” she recalled.

“Yan ’yung talagang na-hurt ako,” Rosanna admitted of learning about it as a teenager.

Despite the painful discovery, the actress stressed that she never felt like an outsider in the family that raised her.

“Hindi mo maramdaman na ampon ka,” she said. “Mas special yung turing sa akin.”

Rosanna eventually had the opportunity to meet her biological mother, but she admitted that she had not felt the need to search for her because she already considered the woman who raised her as her mother.

“Kasi ang nanay ko, itong umampon sa akin, ito talaga. Wala akong ibang kikilalanin o gugustuhin,” she said.

The conversation also touched on Rosanna’s longtime rift with Ai-Ai delas Alas, with the actress recalling that they went for more than two decades without speaking to each other.

According to Rosanna, attempts had previously been made to reconcile them, but neither was ready at the time.

“Noong una, pinagbati kami. Eh hindi pa ako ready, hindi pa siya ready,” she recalled.

There was even a period when Rosanna did not want to see Ai-Ai whenever they happened to be at the same venue.

Their relationship eventually changed when they found themselves working on the same show. Rosanna recalled voluntarily entering Ai-Ai’s room, with their long-awaited encounter unexpectedly turning into laughter rather than confrontation.

“Ayun na, nagtawanan na lang kami. Wala na, hindi na kami naawat,” she said.

Reflecting on how their years-long conflict eventually faded, Rosanna simply said, “Time heals.”

Rosanna’s revelations came during an otherwise casual visit to Maddox Jewelry. She joked upon seeing the jewelry selections, “Feeling ko talaga, magagastusan ako ngayong araw na ’to,” before the conversation shifted to the more personal stories from her life.
