Mariah Carey floundered during her New Year’s Eve performance, lip syncing her biggest hits and blaming a laundry list of technical malfunctions before the ball dropped at Times Square.
The 46-year-old pop star attempted to chime into her 1991 hit “Emotions” but gave up — even as members of her audience continued to groove. She then remained on stage as one more song played, before walking off in a huff.
“It just don’t get any better,” she said before walking off stage.
Carey’s meltdown became the most trending topic on Twitter, with commenters mercilessly trashing the songstress.
The singer later tweeted about the incident, jokingly writing, “Shit happens. … Here’s to making more headlines in 2017.”
This is not the first time Carey has been caught lip syncing. She was ridiculed in 2015 for mouthing the words to “All I Want for Christmas Is You” during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
