- Acoustic artist TJ Monterde launches third album with a concert
- His single “Mahika” is dedicated to soul singer girlfriend KZ Tandingan
It’s been five years since TJ Monterde debuted in the local music industry. The acoustic singer releases his third album this year titled “Kahit Kunwari” under Polyeast Records.
His large internet fan base contributed to the success his career is heading towards now.
With the undeniable talent he has in both singing and song-writing, TJ already produced hit songs like “Tulad Mo” and “Ikaw at Ako”, which consistently make it to the top charts.
TJ was happy to announce earlier at his launch in Jet7 Bistro, Quezon City that he would be performing in his first-ever solo concert this June 17. It’s going to be named after his hit single “Ikaw at Ako” and will be held at the Music Museum.
He graced the media audience with a few songs from his upcoming album. “Mahika” is one of them, it’s a song he wrote for his special someone, KZ Tandingan.
Most of the songs TJ write are sad songs. Even though he is happy with his love life, he shared that he loves writing music about heartbreaks.
“1,2,3” and “Kahit Kunwari” are examples of this. It depicts the stories of unwavering love despite hardships.
TJ expressed how he’s both excited and pressured by his upcoming concert next week.
“It’s going to be an all-original concert. Ipapakita ko ‘yung mismong originals ko sa concert na ‘to. Para marinig ng mga tao kung ano ‘yung music ni TJ Monterde,” he said.
“I feel so blessed. Not everybody’s given the chance to be able to express themselves through music. I never imagined na magkakaconcert ako this soon. Sobrang overwhelming.”
Stage girlfriend
When asked if there’s a possibility that he and KZ will collaborate on stage during his concert, TJ humbly shared his girlfriend’s desire.
“Mas gusto niya po manuod this time,” he said.
It looks like KZ wants to be the stage girlfriend and just support TJ on his shining moment.
