“I’m sorry Papa, I’m sorry.” This was the first words that Cavite Vice Gov. Jolo Revilla told his father, Senator Bong Revilla when the senator given an amnesty to visit son in Asian Hospital and Medical Center yesterday, March 3. Actor-turned-politician Jolo Revilla accidentally shot himself with a gun on Saturday, February 28, 7 a. m. inside their house in Ayala Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
Senator Bong Revilla sought a permit from the Sandiganbayan immediately upon learning about the incident and the court’s grant his request with a 5 hour visit (from 3 to 8 in the afternoon) in the hospital. The moment Bong entered the room, he hugged his son and they cried on each others’ arms. According to the statement released by the office of the senator, father and son was really emotional. Bong told his son, “It’s alright, anak, you have to be strong,”.
Many speculations spread the media world what might be the reason why Jolo “accidentally” shot himself? Others even asked if it was really an accident or the young politician tried to take his life away? As what the ProGun Philippines said, was it self-inflicted? If ever it was, what is the reason behind? Is it family issues or problems with girlfriend, Jodi Sta. Maria?
Atty. Raymond Furtun, family lawyer, released an official statement yesterday to counter the speculations. He said, “Kung ang isang tao ay mayroon talagang intensyon na saktan ang sarili niya, ang gagawin po niya ay itututok yung baril mismo sa katawan niya e at yung anggulo po nito ay yung parte ng katawan na sabihin na natin na hindi mo na mararamdaman kasi patay ka na. Last Saturday evening all the way to the entire morning of Sunday nandun po si Ms. Jodi Sta. Maria at nagbabantay sa kanya. Yesterday po bago po ipasok si Jolo sa operating room nanduon din po si Ms. Jodi.”
On the other hand, Pro Gun Philippines acting Secretary General Ernesto Tabujara also commented on the incident. Here;s what he said: “Sa tingin ko, based on the report on the trajectory of the bullet at sa tama niya sa chest, feeling ko it was self-inflicted. Medyo (sinadya). Kung mayroon mang aksidente, parang napakaibang aksidente yun. Baka may ibang tao, di natin alam.”
