A complaint was filed by  GMA 7 against Skycable when disappointed subscribers failed to watch the top rating ‘AlDub’ kalyeserye at the popular noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga’ due to the lost of signal.

The complaint was raised to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) for immediate action owing to Skycable’s irresponsible behavior that allegedly short-changed paying customers.

A source said  the compliant was made  in a letter dated August 25,2015 by  Engr. Elvis B. Anchceta, senior vice president for engineering and Lynn P. Delfin,  vice president for legal affairs.

The complainants said Skycable’s action was a violation of Section 6 of the NTC MC No. 4-08-88 or the Revised Rules and Regulations Governing Cable Television Systems in the Philippines.

To support the letter, a series of tweets dating July 19 to August 21, 2015 on social media were presented as reference. These tweets came from Metro Manila, Cavite, Bacolod, and Iloilo viewers. The viewers decried the apparent ‘sabotage’ perpetrated by SkyCable and expressed disgust for missing their favorite portion of the country’s longest running noon-time show.”

Some of the tweets presented in reference to the complaint; from twitter user @wyne_me posted “OMG! Walang signal ang GMA sa sky cable dito sa Bacolod pero ang iba meron. Nakakabadtrip! Eat Bulaga na mamaya #AlDubHihintayinKita.” dated August 13, 2015, and another twitter user @floresjenny1214 was cited “Sky cable naman eh kapag eat bulaga na lagi malabo o mawawala wag ganun #ALDUBKeepTheFaith.” dated August 20, 2015.

To recall on the highlighted segment of the said noontime show, “AlDub” from the so-called “kalyeserye” segment, is recently one of the most talked-about subject on social media networks, trending all over twitter garnering more than 2 million tweets and was commended by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines or CBCP for promoting Catholic values. With the segment’s August 22, 2015 episode, Eat Bulaga has marked a household rating of 31.3 percent in NUTAM (National Urban Television Audience Measurement) outnumbering its counterpart program garnering only with 13.7 percent, according to Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. The said episode was set as the “AlDub” love team’s oppressed female character of Yaya Dub played by the Youtube dubsmash sensation Maine Mendoza, was arranged in a fixed marriage to the third-wheel Frankie Arenoli played by Jose Manalo, by her strict grandmother, played by Wally Bayola, as it ends the hopes for Yaya Dub and her loveteam partner, Alden Richards portraying his fictional self, to a “happily-ever-after”.

The segment is said to drive the program’s ratings that garnered its current TV success.
