When it comes to local television channels there are only 2 strong networks that are battling it out on TV rating wars. ABS-CBN versus GMA Network has been the usual case since these 2 rival networks are the strongest among others.
Let’s face it, with so many reports that GMA Network is losing the battle for television rating supremacy to ABS-CBN, the losing TV station has to do something about it and it must be done quickly to offset the losses.
The continuous dwindling down of the Kapuso network ratings especially on primetime block programming in the past few years will certainly result to changes in the hopes of resurrecting the network. From the previous reported news of closing down provincial stations to revamping the program line up for primetime block viewing, it could be either of 2 things- one- the Kapuso network is on ‘damage control’ mode or two-to keep televiewers glued to help with the ratings.
Several of GMA Telebabad programs that are not making waves on TV ratings list are about to bid airtime adieu with coming soon finales for Beautiful Stranger, Legendary Woman and My Faithful Husband.
It was last December 2013 when GMA Network first launched the Kapuso Primetime Cinema and they are bringing it back again. A teaser has been shown on air about the comeback of Kapuso Primetime Cinema and they might air it right before the Kapuso late evening program Saksi.
With the upcoming Kapuso Primetime Cinema nightly presentation on GMA network which is schedule to replace the Koreanovela “Legendary Woman” on November 9, viewers will be treated to Hollywood blockbuster films and top rated movies that perfectly fit the discriminating taste of Filipino TV fanatics. This is also a good way to deviate from the usual drama soap operas that are being shown on local television.
It would be very different this year since GMA network is set to present the Kapuso Primetime Cinema on the timeslot usually allotted for Koreanovelas.
With the said changes in GMA’s primetime programming, this could give much leverage to Saksi and improve its standing against ABS-CBN evening news program Bandila.
Last 2 years ago the Kapuso Primetime Cinema has snatched away the most coveted evening TV program slots for Rhodora X and Carmela which failed in bringing in good TV ratings for the station.
As planned by GMA network TV to soon bring back Kapuso Primetime Cinema is another way to solve the network low rating. But one thing that GMA network TV has to consider is the fact that there are other viable options like a network overhaul or major station revamp.
