Viewers were easily captivated by the story of destined couple Sam (Janella Salvador) and Kevin (Elmo Magalona) as the pilot episode of ABS-CBN’s newest primetime series “Born for You” scored high in the national TV ratings last Monday (June 20).
The series topbilled by Elmo and Janalla proved its prowess in primetime and garnered a national TV rating of 17.1%, easily beating its rival show “Juan Happy Love Story,” which only got 11%, according to data from Kantar Media.
Netizens also shared their kilig and excitement online, which made the official hashtag #BFYTheRedString trend worldwide on Twitter.
In its pilot episode, viewers were introduced to the simple life of Sam with her parents Cathy (Vina Morales) and Buddy (Bernard Palanca). But their family faced deep turmoil with the sudden death of Buddy as a speeding vehicle hit him while chasing Marge (Ayen Munji-Laurel), mother of Kevin and wife of Mike (Ariel Rivera), to take back his composition “Born for You” that he wrote for his wife.
