- The Kapuso network management probably felt it’s time for both Ruru and Gabbi to work as individual artists, hence, the plan to temporarily separate them as a love team and pair them with other partners.
We can’t simply get enough of love teams. When two celebrities are paired on-screen, there’s always the huge possibility that they will soon fall in love in real life. Fans would love to have them as real life couple.
Kapuso stars Gabbi Garcia and Ruru Madrid’s love team began when they were paired for GMA 7’s “Let the Love Begin” in 2015. Since then, in most projects, they were always paired together.
There are advantages and disadvantages of belonging in a love team. One advantage is that they’re easily recognized by fans. But at the same, you’re always expected to be paired with each other, so in a way, it’s like limiting your options when it comes to roles and in working with other individuals. It’s like you are ‘tied’ with your love team.
Fans will protest if the two of you aren’t paired with each other. If you’re dating someone in real life, you also had to keep it private or a secret because it might affect the love team as well. Thus, when in a love team, you have to pay for its prices.
Now, this might not be good news for fans of Gabbi and Ruru but the management of GMA Network had decided to temporarily separate them to allow them to ‘grow’ in terms of their career as individuals.
Ruru will soon be part of the upcoming teleserye, a sequel of Alyas Robin Hood featuring Dingdong Dantes. But this time, he’s not going to be paired with Gabbi. GMA artist center also had plans of making Ruru a big star next year. And an artist cannot be as big as he could be if he’s involved with a fixed love interest.
The same thing can be said with Gabbi. She had shown much potential and promise in terms of acting is concerned. It would be a waste on her part if she’d only be confined to having a love team or partner in all the projects that she does.
Gabbi is reportedly being given a new leading man for her future projects. So that only means, the Gabbi-Ruru love team will be temporarily put on hold, allowing both artists to explore, show their talents individually, and grow as artists sans the comfort of their love team.
Once they have established themselves individually as artists, then perhaps they can have a reunion team up in the near future. But for now, it’s bye-bye to Gabbi-Ruru love team.
