- Kapuso actress Ryza Cenon shared her funny experiences while preparing for the indie film “Ang Manananggal sa 23B” with screen and real life boyfriend Pocholo Barretto.
- She asked her director, Prime Cruz, and Pocholo if she needs to watch porn to prepare her for the role.
“Ang Manananggal sa 23B” is an independent horror/romantic film directed by Prime Cruz. It will soon be showing in cinemas nationwide as part of this year’s “Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino” (PPP) slated on August 16 to 22.
The movie stars Ryza Cenon and boyfriend Pocholo Barretto, who admitted that the characters they are portraying are challenging.
During a press conference prepared for Ryza, the 29-year-old actress recalled their taping days. According to her, she is very proud of the outcome because they really worked hard for it.
“Nagtiwala lang po ako kay Direk,” Ryza said.
“Kaya lumakas din ang loob ko kasi sabi niya sa akin aalagaan niya ako.”
Ryza even shared with the press her experience in preparing for her challenging part in the movie. She recalls having to ask her boyfriend if she needs to watch porn to ready herself.
“Sinabi ko sa kanya na natatakot ako. Sabi niya, ‘Huwag kang matakot.’
“Sabi ko, ‘Ano kaya ang dapat kong gawin? Kailangan ko bang manood ng porn?”
And she really did, Ryza confessed. She was obliged to watch because she grew curious about the positions and reactions.
Nonetheless, Ryza was proud of the film. It was originally shown at the 2016 Quezon City Film Festival.
She revealed that for this year’s PPP, they edited the movie because of it will be seen by a wider audience, far from their target market.
“Mayroon kaming edit na ginawa. Iniisip pa namin kung ilalabas pa namin ang isa pang edit.
“We will determine pa kung saan namin ilalabas yung original na version. Tingnan na lang natin.”
“Ang Manananggal sa 23B” will be joing seven more entries for this year’s PPP festival.
