During Eat Bulaga’s “Juan for All, All For Juan” segment, the host and comedian stated that depression is merely “gawa-gawa lang.”
“Eat Bulaga” host Joey de Leon’s lack of sensitivity over a serious matter made him a trending topic on Thursday (October 5) afternoon. Joey was called out by netizens regarding his statement about depression on today’s episode of the longest-running noontime show.
“Yung depression, gawa-gawa lang ng mag tao iyan. Gawa nila sa sarili nila,” Joey said on a segment called “Juan for All, All for Juan.”
One of the hosts Jose Manalo, whose own daughter tried to commit suicide twice, also dismissed it and said that it was just made up by the doctors.
Maine Mendoza, on the other hand, reacted and said, “Hindi biro yang depression. Hindi siya joke. Hindi kasi maraming nakakaranas ng ganyan lalo na sa mga kabataan. Kaya pag may nakakaranas ng ganun, kailangan natin bigyan ng suporta.”
Alden Richards agreed and said people who go through depression need moral support.
But Joey didn’t stop there, “Huwag niyo supportahan. Gawa-gawa lang nila yun. Nagpapasosyal lang. Pag mayaman, depression. Pag mahirap, wala, wala ng pag-asa sa buhay mo.”

The depressing stand of Joey de Leon didn’t sit well with some of the celebrities including Iza Calzado, Saab Magalona, Khalil Ramos, Kisses Delavin and many others.
