In the recently concluded RAWR Awards 2017 held in Chaos at City of Dreams Manila last November 18, Darren Espanto was awarded as The Favorite Performer. The young singer defeated Alden Richards, Jake Zyrus, Julie Ann San Jose, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Vice Ganda, Jona Viray, Morissette Amon and Sarah Geronimo. Darren rose to fame during the first season of The Voice Kids Philippines. He also released his first full-length self-titled studio album, Darren, in December 2014.
In his acceptance speech, he thanked the organization for recognizing his talent. He also thanked his fans and management for supporting him.
“I’d just like to say thank you to Lionheart TV for this recognition. Maraming maraming salamat po for nominating me. And sa lahat po ng mga bumoto, mga Darrenatic, maraming maraming salamat po. Thank you guys so much! Of course, thank you to God for all the blessings po.”
He ended his speech with heartfelt gratitude.
“And to my friends and family and sa lahat po ng nakikinig sa aking mga awitin, maraming maraming salamat po. Thank you for supporting OPM.”
