During PEP Talk Live session with Rocco Nacino on January 30, Kris Bernal revealed that she attended ABS-CBN workshops in 2003. She also admitted that she tried her luck in ABS-CBN Corporation’s Pinoy Big Brother. She has always wanted to become an artist which led to her trying her luck to talent searches in both networks.
However, she fortunately won as the other half of GMA Network’s Starstruck IV: The Next Level’s Ultimate Love Team.
Kris additionally admitted that she used to imitate Judy Ann Santos and Iza Calzado.
“Kasi ever since as in bata pa ako, gusto ko na talaga mag artista. As in ginagaya ko si Miss Judy Ann Santos, si Miss Iza Calzado, yung mga idol ko talaga ‘yan. Ako yung parang pag may nagtetaping nga malapit sa bahay namin, daan ako ng daan, e, kasi nagpapansin ako! Feel ko madi-discover ako. So nagworkshop ako sa ABS nun kasi after daw pwede ka mabigyan ng project, ayun. Tapos before din sumali din ako dati sa PBB nila. Pero nanalo ako sa StarStruck!”
Kris won the title of Ultimate Love Team with former Kapuso Aljur Abrenica. Their love team also lasted for more than six years. She and Aljur now compete against each other in the same time slots. Kris stars in Impostora and Aljur stars in Asintado with their Starstruck batchmate, Paulo Avelino.
Kris also added that she used to be a talent in movies. She shared her experience on being said talent at birthday parties and such.
“Naging talent pa ako, ha. As in naghihintay ako ng buong araw tapos naghihintay ako sa tabi-tabi tapos walang standby area tapos yung food mo, portion lang din, so naranasan ko talaga lahat yun dahil gusto ko maging artista! Kaya yung mga talent na nag-e-extra sa mga shows ko, feel ko ang lapit-lapit ko sa kanila kasi alam ko yung feeling na, ‘Shocks, moment ko ‘to kahit isa lang yung linya ko, kahit dumaan lang ako.’ Naranasan ko ‘yan! Movies nila Vic Sotto. Kunyari, yung birthday party ng bata, talagang talent lang.”
