Mariel de Leon used to oppose offers on entering the showbiz industry. However, she recently signed with LVD Management and Consultancy Services under Leo Dominguez.
In the said contract signing, Mariel revealed that she will star in an independent film, Latay, with Lovi Poe and Allen Dizon.
Mariel also added that she now wants to concentrate in acting. She said that she loved the experience in acting for Coco Martin’s Ang Panday.
“Dati sa mga interviews ko, I sad na ayaw kong mag-acting o mag-showbiz. I think I sad that before because I was scared (of) the life of an actor. Kasi I saw it with my parents na they’re always going home late, and super tiring yung ginagawa nila. Pero after nung Panday… since I had fun in Panday, parang it opened up my mind to try acting more.”
Mariel mentioned that working with actors in Ang Panday became a huge factor on her decision. She also added how cooperative her co-actors were and how Coco helped her feel comfortable on-set.
“Nabago, eh. Kasi everyone sa set, they’re nice to me. They were patient dahil baguhan ako. They were teaching me sometimes on how to say the lines, on how to act or react. I was lucky then… he (Coco) made nsure na we were always taken cared of sa set.”
