GMA’s upcoming epicserye, Mitho, which will go head-to-head against ABS-CBN’s Bagani. Rumors suggest that Mitho will star Alden Richards, Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Janine Gutierrez. However, another rumor recently started to emerge.
The said rumor also implies that it would channel the 1999 American drama film Cruel Intentions. The said film was based on Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ Les Liaisons Dangereuses or Dangerous Liaisons.
Instead of its setting in 18th century France, the film had set it in a high school in modern New York City.
Cruel Intentions also stars Ryan Phillipe, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon. Ryan’s character was based on the Viscount de Valmont, portrayed Sebastian. Sarah was based on the Marquise de Merteuil, portrayed Kathryn and Reese’s was based on Madame de Tourvel, portrayed Annette Hargrove.
Cruel Intentions reveals the story of Kathryn who manipulated her step-brother, Sebastian, into seducing the virgin daughter of the prep school’s new headmaster, Annette. Sebastian records his every day in a journal especially his step-by-step process of seducing Annette. However, Sebastian falls in love with her. Although after Kathryn exposed his plans, Annette avoids him like a plague.
In an altercation, Annette gets thrown into the way of traffic. Sebastian pushed her to safety and then gets hit by a cab. Before dying, Sebastian professes his love for her and Annette tells him she loves him, too. He also whispered something in her ear. At Sebastian’s funeral, Annette distributed copies of Sebastian’s journal which she titled, Cruel Intentions. In the said journal, Sebastian detailed Kathryn’s secrets especially her cocaine stash in her rosary.
The said rumor also hints that Alden’s character will be like Sebastian. Meanwhile, Jasmine will portray her role with Kathryn’s characteristics. Janine, then, will play her role with Annette’s traits.
