Alden Richards knows that some netizens have already sized up Victor Magtanggol even before they get to see the series in its entirety. One of the foremost issues raised is that Victor Magtanggol is a mere rip-off off Marvel’s Thor portrayed by Hollywood actor Chris Hemsworth.
Victor Magtanggol versus Thor
In an interview with PEP.ph, Alden answered the said observation.
“Mas nandoon ako sa anggulo na hintayin niyo lang, teaser pa lang po ‘yan. We have so much more to show you, guys.”
Alden considers Victor Magtanggol as one of his biggest breaks in showbiz.
“Mas marami naman yung naka-appreciate. Mas marami yung nag-aabang sa pagbabalik ko po sa primetime and feeling ko po ito na yun. I could say this is one of my biggest breaks in my showbiz career.”
Alden admitted that he’s pressured especially since the network has invested so much on the show.
“Medyo may kaba tapos yun nga, malaki yung budget so parang mas lalong nagkaroon ng pressure on my end and hindi lang sa akin, with the creatives and the team as well. But siguro, nawawala yun kapag sinimulan mo nang i-enjoy yung mga ginagawa mo and we don’t take anything too seriously. Siguro yung shoot minsan, medyo.”

If we are to be technical about it, Marvel doesn’t have proprietorship over Thor as the character is originally from the Norse mythology which is public domain. Works that fall under public domain can be used freely without permission or compensation from the copyright owner.
According to the Norse mythology, Thor is a hammer-wielding god of thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, the protection of mankind, in addition to hallowing, and fertility. However, Thor and other gods in the said mythology had been extinguished.
