Keanna Reeves, real name Janet Derecho Duterte, was arrested on November 12, Monday for cyber libel. She was arrested by the police on Timog Avenue corner Scout Ybardolaza in Quezon City.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Maria Florencia Formes-Baculo of Laguna Regional Trial Court Branch 34 with bail set at Php 20, 000.
Cybercrime Prevention Act.
This is a law aimed to address legal issues concerning online interactions and the Internet in the Philippines. Among the cybercrime offenses included in the bill are cybersquatting, cybersex, child pornography, identity theft, illegal access to data and libel.
Keanna Reeves’ legal war against Nancy Dimaranan.
Nancy Dimaranan is a businesswoman who filed a cyber-crime complaint against Keanna through the Philippine National Police where it was revealed that the comedienne had sent her a total of seventeen (17) libelous and defamatory messages.
She also took to facebook, expressing her gratitude to LGBT+ Community for their support.
The problem arose over talent fees and contract issues. Keanna, however, insulted Nancy through a facebook live video, calling her gay, a pig and a devil which affected the latter’s children.
