ABS-CBN’s ‘It’s Showtime’ is a noontime variety show that premiered on October 2009. This year, as it rejoices its first successful franchise in Indonesia, one of its main host Jugs and Teddy recalls the struggles that the show went through the past years.
And the two honestly stated that one of the struggles that they have surpassed was the trend of its rival show’s AlDub.
It can be remembered that year 2015 was the rise of GMA Network’s AlDub, as dubbed by fans from the tandem of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza. They were the phenomenal love team that first appeared in the segment of the noontime variety show ‘Eat Bulaga’ in its ‘Kalyeserye’ segment, a portion of the “Juan for All, All for Juan.”
On March 21, during the press conference of It’s Showtime’s Indonesian version. Jugs and Teddy admitted that one of the challenges that the show faced through its years of airing was the rise of the AlDub loveteam of Eat Bulaga, stating that it was one of the challenges that the show successfully overcame.
“Kasama na rin doon yung AlDub days na isa sa napagtagumpayan naming pagsubok.”
Another struggle that they surpassed was the incident that happened in 2010, when the Movie & Television Review & Classification Board (MTRCB), placed the talent show on a 20-day preventive suspension, after an incident involving one of the show’s judges.

“Sa struggles siguro, marami, e. Kahit yung nawala kami sa ere, yung bigla kaming naputol. Tapos biglang nagtetext na, tumatawag na yung executive producer namin, ‘Punta kayo sa studio.’
“So, isa ‘yon sa pinakamalaking pagsubok namin and also, minount namin yun, gumawa kami ng theme song ng gabing iyon.
Despite the struggles that the show faced, it still continuously provides the madlang people the laughter and happiness that a variety show should have.
On March 24, Jugs and Teddy went to Indonesia to grace the pilot episode of It’s Showtime Indonesia on MNCTV.
As It’s Showtime Indonesia aired on March 25 many can’t help but be ecstatic on the new variety show.
