Kapuso Network’s rising star Mikee Quintos has disclosed that she previously viewed teleseryes as OA (over acting), and thinks that there are just some scenes that are quite improbable to happen in real life; yet it is being produced and acted upon.
She stated, “Dati po kasi, para sa akin, sobra naman ang mga eksenang ginagawa sa isang teleserye, totoo bang nangyayari iyon sa tunay na buhay?”
However, this was not the case in her just-recently concluded family drama series ‘Onanay’ where she portrayed the character of Maila. She affirmed that the show really had affected audiences because such kinds of tragic events really do happen in people’s lives, making numerous netizens relate to the story.
“Pero nang napapanood na ang Onanay, maraming nagte-text sa akin na nakaka-relate daw sila sa character ko bilang si Maila, na tinitiis niya sa simula pa ng story kung paano siya i-treat ng kanyang ina na hindi siya matanggap dahil bunga siya ng isang rape. Kahit nang magkaunawaan na sila ng kanyang ina, hindi pa rin nawawala na mas kinakampihan ng ina ang isa pa niyang kapatid, si Rosemarie (Kate Valdez).”

Mikee also shared how her character Maila helped her grow and improve as an artist, together with the guidance of her co-stars, like veteran actors Nora Aunor and Cherie Gil, who gave her pieces of advice that she needed to fully and rightly capture her role.
“Pero sa pagganap ko po ng role ni Maila, na-explore ko ang craft ko at ipinagpapasalamat ko ito sa mga nakasama ko sa teleserye. Sina Nanay Nora(Aunor)at Ms. Cherie (Gil) ang nagbigay sa akin ng mga pointers sa simula pa lang na nagkasama-sama kami.”
“Si Nanay Nora, ang sabi niya sa akin, always be professional, trust yourself na kaya mo ang role. Si Ms. Cherie, sabi niya sa akin always be prepared sa bawat eksenang ibigay sa akin.”
