The search for the next ‘Darna’ is still on after actress Liza Soberano backed out from the project after sustaining a fractured finger on the set of ‘Bagani.’
Auditions for the iconic role was made open to the public last week.
Since the ‘Darna’ movie will be produced by Star Cinema, it is expected that a Kapamilya actress will be the one to take on the role. But there are now rumors that Kapuso Actress Sanya Lopez could be the next ‘Darna.’
On a fan’s Twitter account, a video of Sanya shouting “Darna” was posted with a caption, “Our strong, fierce and beautiful Queen shemss Danaya to Darna why not diba? @sanya_lopez bagay talagang maging darna and that shout,. mygoshh! The ‘Dahil Sa Pag-Ibig’ star shared her reaction to fans claiming she was a fit for the role.
“For me po, nakakatuwa na kinu-consider nila ako as Darna kasi hindi naman basta Darna lang si Darna. She’s an icon and sobrang strong ng personality and an empowered woman. Sabi ko nga po, kapag kinonsider ka nang ganito, nakakatuwa po talaga.”
The actress added that nothing’s impossible despite the movie rights of Darna being with Star Cinema, that is if GMA would allow her to audition for the role.
“Sabi naman po nila, di ba? Walang imposible. Pero ang sa akin naman po, parang, kumalat po yung audition, sabi ko po sa kanila, basta merong ibinigay na invitation sa GMA for audition, why not po? Basta po pumayag ang GMA.”
When the actress was asked if someone had asked her to audition, “Hindi ko po alam, wala pa pong sinasabi. Well, basta ako naman po, okay lang, e. Sabi ko nga po, hindi ko na po iniisip kung sinuman yung gaganap na Darna.
“Kung sinuman, basta ang importante po sa akin, yung mas mabibigyan niya ng justice o mas mapaghahandaan niya yung character ni Darna o yung role ni Darna, kasi she’s an icon. Lalo na sa ating mga Pinoy, Pinay.”
Sanya Lopez will soon be seen in her upcoming afternoon series ng ‘Dahil Sa Pag-Ibig’ replacing Kyline Alcantara’s ‘Inagaw na Bituin.’
