Angel Locsin got involved in a heated argument with a netizen who criticized her for not attending the ABS-CBN Ball last September 14, Saturday, which served as a fund-raising event that benefited Bantay Bata 163’s Bantay Edukasyon Program.
In an Instagram post last Saturday, The General’s Daughter star reasoned that she opted to directly send her money to Bantay Bata instead of using it for her preparations for the ball as she thought that it was her best way to help.
A part of her statement wrote: “As for me, I decided to do my share in a way that I could probably be more of use. I think it would be better for me to donate directly to Bantay Bata the amount that I’m supposed to spend in the ball. It’s not much, but will help make a difference to someone else’s life.”

The said post already garnered 80,000-plus likes and made headlines on social media. Angel then received praises online, as well as criticisms.
One netizen pointed out to the actress that she could have attended the ball just like Isabelle Daza who wore her mother Gloria Diaz’s old gown from Miss Universe 1994 during that night. The netizen claimed Angel is implying that the ball is unnecessary in helping the cause.

“Yan sinasabi ko @143redangel. Pwede ka magsuot ng old gown at um-attend ng ball at saka ka mag-donate. Parang pinapalabas mo na ‘wag na magkaron ng ball ang ABS-CBN at gayahin na lang ang ginawa mo. Wow! Feeling mo, ha? Mag-gown ka nga at ipakita mo sa amin na deserve mo suot mo,” the basher wrote in a now-deleted tweet.
But Angel did not let the comment slide and replied: “Marunong ka pa sa invited.”
The netizen threw other disparaging remarks against the actress and said that Angel is just seeking public attention through her post.
“Hahahaha. Affected? Ang dami mo pa kasi daldal e. Kung di ka aattend, quiet ka na lang. Me nalalaman ka pa na DONATE derecho. PASIKAT??”
Angel then ended the conversation and said: “Mag-donate ka para ‘di ka triggered ng guilt momshie!”

This year’s ABS-CBN Ball, formerly known as Star Magic Ball, was held for the benefit of Bantay Bata 163, a social welfare program of ABS-CBN Foundation launched in 1997.
The event which showcased the full roster of Kapamilya stars with the “modern Filipiniana” theme, took place at Shangri-La at the Fort last September 14, Saturday evening.
