- Gil Cuerva admitted he does not mind doing support roles
- He wants to improve and pursue scriptwriting someday
- He will be part of GMA Network’s Beautiful Justice
Guillermo Ernesto Eleazar Cuerva, or simply known as Gil Cuerva is an actor and model known for his role as Matteo Domingo in GMA Network’s adaptation of My Love from the Star. He was then the leading man of Jennylyn Mercardo who played Steffanie Elaine “Steffi” Chavez in the 2017 series.
Gil is currently part of the upcoming series Beautiful Justice along with actresses Yasmien Kurdi, Bea Binene, and Gabbi Garcia. Helmed by Mark Reyes V, the show will premiere on September 9, Monday.
He plays PDEA agent Vin Ocampo which is a supporting role, something that Gil said that he does not mind.
“Oh yeah, yeah, definitely! Siyempre, being lead is a good thing but mas priority ko talaga is to get work. If that means na parati akong support, I’ll do it! I’m looking at the bigger picture kasi. Yung bigger picture kasi for me is to get better, you only get better thru more experience, to having more shows, having more taping. So if right now, iyan yung mga ino-offer pa lang sa akin, I’ll take it. I’ll gladly take it, one hundred percent, one hundred twenty percent.As long as mabigyan lang ako ng chance to do better.” he said during the grand mediacon of Beautiful Justice last Tuesday, August 27, at Le Revé Events and Party Place in Quezon City.
Besides acting, the actor also wants to pursue scriptwriting and producing his own film someday.
“Eventually, gusto kong umabot sa point na I want to do writing for movies, or writing for TV shows, writing scripts, or produce, maybe produce my own movie, produce my own film. Actually, feeling ko ang problema sa akin is marami akong iniisip, hindi ko na nasusulat. So hopefully, in the future, when I get older, I get more experience, mabigyan ako ng chance to, maybe I don’t know, write a short film, or write a movie.”
“I always look at the bigger picture. I don’t wanna limit myself sa ano.”
What is Gil’s ultimate goal?
“That’s a good question. As an actor, I want to portray a role na may impact. Siyempre, sa ngayon, people remember me as Matteo,” Gil said referring to his role in My Love From The Star.
“But I want to portray a character that people will remember so much na… hindi naman sa makakalimutan si Matteo pero parang people will say na, ‘Ah, siya si Matteo, pero siya rin si ganyan-ganyan, sa ganyan.’

“So, as an actor, that’s my goal. But my over-all goal sa showbiz, siguro I wanna have a huge part in a movie. When I say huge part, hindi as an actor. Whether as a scriptwriter, or whether as producer or whether as a director. If I reach that point, alam ko parang, ‘Wow! I’m given the complete freedom to create a story.’
“And at the end of the day, I see myself kasi as a story creator. When you’re the actor, you’re a character in the story, but I wanna be a storyteller, a story creator. I want to create a story. So iyan yung goal ko for myself. I wanna be able to create a story whether it’s a short film or a movie, or a teleserye. Iyan yung goal ko.”
Gil was also part of Sahaya as young Harold, My Guitar Princess, and Super Ma’am.
