“Sa lahat po ng bumubuo ng Nang Ngumit ang Langit, I can say I’m so lucky.”
He thanked their director FM Reyes and said that his journey in Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit was unforgettable.
“FMR, direk, maraming salamat sa ‘yo. It’s a good journey for me. It’s a good timing for me. I think it’s God’s will kumbaga ito. It’s another chapter of my life. Another set of family companions and friends na nagbigay ng break sa akin.”
He really believes that this comeback series saved his failing career.
“Kaya thankful ako sa kanila dahil kumbaga sila yung—kahit papaano—nagsagip sa career ko, sa pagkatao. Kina mamu, kina RC, kina Direk FM Reyes, kina princess, kina DJ. Sa entire cast.
“And sa next project, di ko pa po alam.”
It wasn’t long ago that the actor officially announced that he was transferring to ABS CBN Network, which was confirmed in an Instagram post. “Abangan si @kimpster888bilang BENJIE sa #NangNgumitiAngLangit. Malapit na sa ating ABS-CBN! #RSBDramaUnit”
De Leon was also excited to work with different Kapamilya actors.
“Actually lahat e, lahat ng mga taga-ABS-CBN, gusto kong maka-trabaho. Pero siyempre ako naman, hindi namimili so kung anong ibigay sa akin, thankful ako.”
Since the actor was a former host of one of the longest running noontime variety shows of GMA, Eat Bulaga, the actor was actually being barred from guesting on Eat Bulaga‘s rival, It’s Showtime.
The actor was contacted by an executive from Eat Bulaga who told him not to appear on It’s Showtime.
“I’d been with ‘Eat Bulaga’ for 14 years and then wala na ako sa kanila for three years. Si Tita Malou Choa-Fagar (TAPE executive) tinext niya ako about that at sabi niya kumbaga since katapat ng ‘Eat Bulaga’ parang hindi puwede mag-guest dahil katapat ng ‘Eat Bulaga.’ Sabi niya it’s work ethics naman. Pero ipinaglaban ko. Sabi ko gusto ko mag-gues.”
De Leon made sure that his appearance on the show was pure promotion for his series.
“Sabi ko I’m just being professional to my work, and at the same time lumipat na naman ako. I’m not with them. So gusto ko i-promote ‘yung show. Hindi naman po porke nag-guest ako sa ‘Showtime’ ay kinakalaban ko po sila. It’s about promoting the show ‘Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit,’” he added.
