Actor Joem Bascon has clarified that he is not dating actress Meryll Soriano.
At the press conference for the Culion movie in Quezon City on Thursday night, Joem also revealed that he and longtime girlfriend Crisha Uy had already broken up.
“Wala na kami (Crisha). Yup, I’m single,” the Kapamilya star said.
“Sa ngayon, I’m going out with friends. I go out with my family. Andon ako sa proseso na inaayos ko iyong sarili ko. Hinahanap ko rin ‘yung sarili ko ulit… iyong gusto ko para sa sarili ko, para sa trabaho ko,” he added.
Although he is single now, the actor said he’s currently not dating anyone.
Joem said he and his former girlfriend, Meryll, are just friends.
“Yes, we’re good friends,” the actor stressed.
“Lumalabas kasi ako kasama ng barkada, ng friends ko. And si Meryll is one of those people. Siyempre kasi kasama ko siya sa Culion and Starla,” he added.
Joem said they also haven’t talked about getting back together.
“Wala. Hindi napag-uusapan ‘yan,” he noted.

Joem and Meryll dated back in early 2009 and their relationship lasted for almost two years.
Speculations of a romance between Joem and Meryll recently surfaced after some photos of the two together circulated on social media.
But Joem said, “Hindi ko naman maiiwasan kung ano ang sasabihin ng ibang tao. Kung ano iyong maiisip nila about pictures na nakikita nila.
“Sa ngayon, inaayos ko pa iyong sarili ko. So parang hindi pa rin ako ready magkaroon ng relationship. Gusto ko lang talaga magkaroon ng time for myself. Siguro relasyon muna para sa sarili ko. Hahanapin ko iyong gusto ko sa buhay,” he added.
Back in November, Joem admitted that there was a major problem between him and Crisha that he didn’t know how to fix.
“Iyong rason kasi, sa amin na lang sigurong dalawa. Kung ano man iyong naging rason, kung ano man iyong pinag-daanan naming dalawa, iyong napag-usapan namin pareho. Mahirap siya for both of us,” the actor said.
“And I guess nasa stage kami na kailangan namin ayusin iyong kanya-kanyang proseso sa isa’t-isa. And right now, kahit andon kami sa proseso. We’re still talking. I tried to make it na maging friends pa rin kami. Pero andon na ko sa stage na inaayos ko na iyong sarili ko,” he added.
When asked if there’s a chance to reconcile with Crisha, Joem said he cannot say for now.
Joem and Crisha had been in a relationship for eight years.
The actor said his source of strength right now are his family and friends.
Joem starred in two movies for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
One of his films is Culion with Iza Calzado, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Meryll, and John Lloyd Cruz.
The other movie is Write About Love starring Miles Ocampo, Rocco Nacino, and Yeng Constantino.
Both films open on Christmas Day, December 25.
