In a recent press conference for the Anak ni Waray Vs Anak ni Biday series, Dina Bonnevie was asked if she experienced the same situation as her character did in the newest GMA Network primetime series.
Dina plays Waray in the series, the mortal enemy of Snooky Serna’s character, Biday, who will also fall in love with Joaquin, played by Jay Manalo.
“Sasagutin ko ba ‘yan?” the veteran actress begun.
She then narrated her relatable experience in the past.
“Well, I think my life is an open book. Alam naman ng lahat na mayroon akong friend na naging magkaaway kami before because of my partner, my husband. Nagkaanak din sila. Of course, it was painful. Inabot din ng ilang years bago kami nagkabati. But God is good, we forgave each other.”
Dina expressed her gratefulness and admiration for her best friend who drew her closer to God after their reconciliation.
“And now, actually, I admire her because she’s really a wonderful person. Kaya ko rin siya naging kaibigan noon, you know. But we are not perfect people, we make mistakes. I really admire her, especially now that she’s a very successful mother. She has devoted her time to the Lord. So, dahil din sa kanya, naging Christian ako. So, maganda at maayos ang pagiging magkaibigan namin muli, nagpapasalamat ako.”
In a separate interview with Gorgy Rula, the veteran actress was asked if she was pertaining to Coney Reyes.
Dina neither denied or confirmed this but she responded with, “Dati naman kaming friends. Pero ngayon okay naman kami.”
Dina still feels surreal now that she has recovered their friendship with her fellow actress.
“Actually, surprisingly… I was going already to that church and then, niyaya niya ako. Sabi niya, ‘Come, join me.’ [Ako naman], ‘Totoo ba ‘to?’ God is good. Parang He really finds a way to heal your heart and to heal relationships. And parang, from how she was before and now, kapuri-puri talaga. I admire her and talagang friends na kami.”

Dina is the former wife of Eat Bulaga host Vic Sotto and they had two kids Danica and Oyo. They got married in 1982 but separated four years later and their marriage was annulled in 1992.
Meanwhile, Coney and Vic also had a past relationship as they worked as co-hosts on Eat Bulaga. They were blessed with a son, Vico, who is currently the mayor of Pasig City.
It was Vic’s affair with Coney that was rumored to have caused the breakdown of his marriage to Dina, leading to a feud between the two actresses.
At the time, Coney was also Vic’s co-host on Eat Bulaga. She had just separated from her husband, basketball player Larry Mumar, with whom she has two kids. Vic and Coney’s romance went public sometime in the early 1990s.
As a born-again Christian, Coney is now an active member and a discipleship group leader of Victory Christian Fellowship.
