DOT kicks off #GoCreatePH TikTok dance challenge

The Department of Tourism (DOT), in partnership with leading short-form mobile video platform TikTok, launched a new dance challenge called #GoCreatePH to promote its ongoing “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” umbrella campaign.

The dance challenge will debut in content produced by various Filipino content creators on TikTok, in which they will be dancing to catchy songs set in different locations and tourist destinations of Cebu and Bohol. These content creators include Chierald Tan, Michael Joseph Uy, Simon Joseph Javier, Pamela Evangelista, Sairalen Brual, Lennie Enverga, Alyssa Profeta, Alicia Rigonan, Shaine Buhat, Chairein Kris Cordoviz, Kimberly Dianne Vinson Ilag, Pamela Reyes, Nelson Morato, Duke De Castro, Ian Carl De Jesus, Cedric Rosal, Carla Zara, and Amber Miles.

Filipinos are encouraged to join the dance challenge by uploading TikTok videos of themselves performing the same dance moves while showcasing the beauty of their local travel destinations or even their own provinces. Just like the content creators, participants are urged to transition from one location to the next throughout their dance—identifying each spot via geotag—and can even switch outfits and travel gear for the full effect! They must post their videos from February 24 to March 31 using the hashtags #GoCreatePH and #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines and challenge their friends to join in.

“The DOT is always looking for new, fresh, and definitely fun ways to tell everyone that ‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines’,” said DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat. “We can’t wait to see all the different creative and entertaining ways our fellow Filipinos shine the spotlight on our beautiful country.”

“TikTok supports the Department of Tourism in its unrelenting efforts to boost the local tourism. Our creators are happy to lend their talents and be part of this campaign to kickstart the #GoCreatePH challenge. We are looking forward to hundreds, if not thousands, of creative executions and show users around the globe that the Philippines is a fun place to be—from our majestic mountains and shores to the genius and creativity of Filipinos,” said TikTok Philippines Operations and Community Manager John Castro.

The DOT partnered with TikTok in December 2019 to become the first Philippine government agency to utilize the popular platform as part of its initiative to boost tourism in the country. With this partnership, the country also became a part of TikTok’s #TikTokTravel campaign, which aims to inspire users to share their favorite travel moments on the app.

Watch the various videos of the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” dance challenge on the official DOT TikTok account at @tourismphilippines.

The Department of Tourism strongly discourages participants from performing the dance challenge in places that are considered hallowed ground such as churches, cemeteries, and memorial sites of war atrocities where people have suffered and were killed.
